Last year I meant to get started with GTD, but it didn't happen due to illness and other things. I'm doing a helluva lot better now so I figure, Jan 1 is a good opportunity to start up again. I got a ton of "stuff" to do, and that I want to do. So I need something to get organized.

Anyways, Christmas was good. Spent it on the beach down in Dana Point, and then dinner @ my Mom's. That was pretty chill. I ate a lot of crap though.

So that's your Holiday update Vox. More crap coming soon.

I haven't posted in so long, I am not sure what I want to talk about first. Maybe my new found love for custom t-shirts? I don't know why, but I am a bit obsessed lately. With the finding of shirt.woot.com and then uneetee and the blog tcritic I just have found some really cool art and stuff on T's. Also I now understand a bit of the hype over American Apparel brand stuff. Those damn things feel like they have been dipped in softness juice or something. Absolutely the most comfortable shirt I've ever worn.

Also since I've last posted, I've watched the first and second season of Dexter (yes I know Dexter's second season doesn't end till this Sunday but I had an advanced copy and couldn't wait). Anyhow, that show is amazing. Anyone who has seen it can attest to this. Seriously a bit fucked up though, who cheers on a serial killer? Apparently I do, and so do a bunch of others. Season 2 was better than Season 1 IMO, and Season 1 was fucking fantastic.

What else, Oh, I have a Zune. Yeah fuckers, a Zune, that mp3 player that almost nobody has. Guess what? It kicks ass. I never used my iPod much cuz I really dislike iTunes, but that's another day for another rant. Anyways I pay $15/mos for the Zune Membership and downloaded an Asston of stuff. Me, being a bit older than the girls I tend to hit on, am a bit biased to 90s rock. Since I can barely find any house/electronic music I dig on any mp3 service, my Zune is just filled mostly with rock and metal. Anyways, surfing around trying to find some new music I discovered a band named the Silversun Pickups.

Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye

They pretty much remind me of a Siamese Dream-esque version of the Smashing Pumpkins. Very similar guitar work, and a Billy Corgan inspired vocal style. I'm digging em. I'm always looking for new rock music to listen to. So if you know of some Indie / Post-Grunge stuff I may like, please feel free to comment. I'll either trash them at a later date or like em.

Well at least I am going to try. A bunch of people are always like "dude you need to blog that.." or "I miss your blogs"

These people are stupid.

I'm not that interesting. Though I do think I am definitely a weird person who says whatever is on their mind, so I guess that's appealing.

Anyways. I'm gonna try and not bitch about my ailments, since that's interesting to nobody.

My stomach is still a tad fucked, but I am doing alright. I'm on a good regimine, I workout a ton now. So, just hope for the best.

So this blog will pickup where I left off, and will be uncensored and talk about what's on my mind.

I just got back from Robeks, drinking a Bonzai Blueberry per usual and hit on one of the smoothie girls. Life is pretty OK.

Seriously. Guy is the funniest person in late night right now. He is solely the reason to stay up and watch late night TV.

Now I know all you Conan lovers are ready to say OMG CONAN IS SO MUCH BETTER. Been there folks, watched Conan for years. He is great, really great. But maybe my tastes are changing or something, but Craig's monologue and bits are just better. Instead of a "did ya hear about this folks" monologue, and quick jokes on current topics, you get a mostly ad-lib'ed monologue and story from Craig who pokes fun at celebrities and circumstances and just anything. Completely brilliant.

Someone needs to start archiving his monologues on youtube or something. Anyhow, for you Conan fans, some night when he's a repeat, put on Craig. Guarantee you'll be impressed.

btw I know this sounds like some newspaper review, but it just happened like that. i'm a dork.

I have so many interests that sometimes I favor some over others. Lately I have sucked @ writing here because I been so into my music again. Add my busy-ness of work and that leaves not much time for anything else.

Anyways. Not much is new, just wanted to drop a line here and let people know I'm alive... and I am working on a new progressive styled mix now ;) Should have it out soon! :)

Experimental?

So Saturday I pretty much stayed in and relaxed, watch basketball and chilled. Didn't want to do much that night either.

Got some new beats and decided I'd sit (and stand) at my turntables and see if I could put together an Electro mix.

I like some Electro, not a lot, I'm VERY picky. Also I've never spun Electro before, and whenever trying a diff genre, different sounds come into play etc, and it can be a bit to pick up. Blah blah, excuses. :)

So I literally put this mix together at 3am, and it sounded OK then. I've listened to it again today, and wow, some shoddy mixes due some bad phrase matching, makes me cringe a bit. My beatmatching was pretty on though and I liked my track selection too. So I decided to save it and share.

Please excuse some of the mixes, again it was 3am and my first electro mix.Though I am hyper-critical of myself, so maybe ya wont notice? I'll probably go back and do a prog house mix next weekend. But this was fun. The tracks are definitely upbeat, so if ya wanna listen. Here ya go.

I know the mix from Do Not Disturb to Take that record off, sounsd like there is a trainwreck. But there is a breakbeat in the intro, and I shoulda finessed it more, but really, it was matched. I'm still not happy how it came out though. Also I really wanted to get the Get Up remix in, and don't like how that intro'ed or outro'ed. My perfectionism wants me to delete the entire thing ;) but I think it's not too bad overall. Hell most of you probably won't notice most of this. :-P

MTV Unplugged?

Call me old but I reminisce about my youth and especially the music involved in the 90s. Anyone remember MTV Unplugged, yeah way back when, when they played music on MTV. When rock was a live and well, and they had these great specials where artists would perform acoustic versions of their songs. Why did that die out? Why did rock as we know it, die? I recently listened to the Alice in Chains unplugged and Nirvana unplugged, and damn, such good music.

Does anyone know if MTV or anyone does Unplugged sesions anymore? I suppose probably not, due to formula rock unplugged wont sound that great.
